Cheryl Silverman was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating college at SUNY Stony Brook in 1980 with a degree in History and Sociology, Ms. Silverman moved to Miami-Dade County, Florida to attend the University of Miami School of Law. A member of the Florida Bar since 1983. Ms. Silverman is an active member of the Dade County Bar Association and in particular the DCBA's Probate and Guardianship Committee.
Ms. Silverman is one of eight lawyers appointed by the Chief Judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit in and for Miami Dade County to act as guardian advocate for involuntarily committed psychiatric patients. She has acted as counsel or guardian ad litem in Marchman Act cases involving drug and alcohol abuse issues and has also served as substitute General Magistrate in involuntary treatment and drug and alcohol cases.
